What to read?
We started training yesterday for our youth mission trip to Peru and Guatemala. We have 3 teams of close to 90 people leaving early Sunday morning for 2 weeks of life changing ministry.
I’m sure I will be unavailable to post during those 2 weeks, but I will come back with some pictures. One of my favorite things to do on the mission field is photography. It is one of my creative outlets during the year.
I will also be taking a serious size stack of books with me. I am sorting through some now at my house.
Any recommendations on what I should take?
What books have you read that really spoke to you recently?

I haven’t been reading many books as of late, but I will start as soon as they come out with the books I want to read in the Message translation. A good place to start is the Bible :)

An excellent, and an easy read, book that we have as mandatory reading for anyone going to a different culture, for Apex missions, is “Foreign to Familiar” by Sarah Lanier.
It is an excellent perspective on us cold climate Americans entering into warm climate cultures such as S. America or Africa. It says a lot about how we relate to people, or fail to relate to people. It also has great application to team interactions. You often get a lot of people on a team that very different backgrounds and styles of conducting themselves.
Anyhow…there’s my recommendation. You can finish it in about two or three sittings, but the lessons are excellent.
