I Want To Be A Player

Something I’ve been thinking about comes in the form of a tombstone…..

Joshua A. Scott
1977 - Whenever
He would have done some really cool stuff….
but his boss wouldn’t let him
or

Joshua A. Scott
1977 - Whenever
HE WAS A PLAYER!

This isn’t a shot at my boss… believe me.

It’s just that I want a shot at it. I want a chance to do the things I see in my heart. I don’t always want to be working for what someone else wants. I want to be the quarterback or the coach. I want to build the team and call the plays and have a shot at putting it in the end zone.

I don’t want to sit and watch it all from the sidelines.

That reminds me of the end to The Royal Tenenbaums, Royals headstone reads “Royal Tenenbaum died tragically trying to save his family from a sinking battleship”

    Which of coarse wasn’t true

I was thinking that when you said that you were a “player” that you were referring to “getting your mac on with the ladies”. That would have been strange….

I think your tombstone will read something to the effect of, ” Remember the HOT white leather sandals” .

I think the term “Servant Leader” comes to mind at this point. To gain the right or the opportunity or the flexibility to lead, you must first take whatever means necessary to be a servant to those who are leading. I’m reminded of “So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” Phil 2 has hit me a lot lately in this regards. Jesus vividly and explicitly came as the ultimate example of a servant leader. Practically, I’d say it is just the process of earning or gaining rapport.
