Pax Americana

So I discovered that if you really want to generate some comments, just start getting political. I appreciate the responses. The conversation has been fun.

I read a little about Bush and the War in Iraq. Most of it not so flattering, but then again, it’s hard to find a lot of supportive stuff out there these days.

So here are some of my thoughts (just to warn you, you may not like this):

Is the war in Iraq really worth killing innocent lives?

Suspending civil liberties?

Spending billions of dollars?

All so it will ensure our safety in the future?

To tell you the truth, I don’t know if I really want to be a country that embraces a doctrine of pre-emptive war.

I don’t know if I really want to be a country where we go alone on international issues.

It starts to look a bit to me like Pax Americana… And George Bush as the self-proclaimed Messianic Calvinist who has been appointed to root out evil in the world… or protect oil interests… however you see it.

And I don’t buy the thought that this is the only way to make sure another 911 never happens. I don’t think there is a way to make sure 911 never happens. And I think there are far better alternatives than invading a country that wasn’t even linked to the attacks.

And why don’t we give the same attention to civil rights violations and genocide in Africa? Are they of lesser value to the geo-political economy? Are they not considered because they are not rich in oil?

I’m not okay with the fact that oil decides our foreign policy and international stance on justice.

So there… it’s a bit critical… maybe over the top… we’ll see.

This is funny, because I just posted the other day a WWJD on gas prices, and it’s completely opposite of yours. Invade everybody… own everything. But, that’s why I’ll never be president.

It certainly is not an simple issue. I don’t agree with Bush on a lot of things, but one thing I do know, He said it would be a long war. It isn’t ending any time soon. Watch out with Iran and Russia. All I can say is unleash our military, let them do what they can do. Get the media out of there and fight with no politics. If the media wants in there, they are on their own, we should not wast our resources protecting morons.
One thing we have to keep in mind is it’s not just about the gas prices. We use oil for everything from gas, machine oil for all industry, all plastics (even the beloved bottled water for spoiled Americans who can’t us a reusable cup), most electronic devices, toys, much of our cars, tires, pretty much everything……So what happens if we don’t have that oil? Fact is, we have plenty of oil here in the USA if we would be allowed to drill, and build refineries. Lets use other technologies we have as well. Such as coal to oil and diesel (old tech. developed by Hitler, and it works great), what about nuclear power? Seems pretty dumb to me we don’t have more power plants, clean, safe, and efficient. And for those who love the solar and wind techs. go ahead use it how you can. Oh, but can we stop using our corn to drive on please. How stupid of an idea is that. (one the issues I disagree with Bush on) Corn, one of our primary foods used for many things like tortillas, corn syrup (pop), feeding cows. Because of the increase of corn price, cows aren’t being fed properly resulting in less meat therefore higher meat prices, less milk-higher prices again. Not to mention it takes more energy to make the E85 than it produces, and is subsidized greatly by our government. This sounds like the new America; no common sense.

Oh, and another thing with the gas…get rid of so many different formulas. All states should use the same gas, that would ease our refineries quite a bit.
